iv always wondered that...the only time iv ever heard my alarm is if i hit panic on accident...that's why i have a viper alarm system waiting to go in (holding it for the GT im looking for)...it has a shock sensor that has some nice settings...

I have a Carbine alarm system in my car, and it sucks! Its way way to sensitive.. If you barely bump the car, the alarm goes off. Or cars with aftermarket exhaust, and even wind will set it off..

Yeah, I think the only thing that sets it off is the panic button. I think the flashing "theft" light is just a theft deterrent...

well, im not sure about us v6s, but i know a guy with a 96 gt that had a spare key made (not through ford) and that spare key would open the doors, but when he tried to start the car the "Theft" would light up and the car wouldnt start.

yeah a spare key not made by ford and programmed WILL NOT start the car. That is an active theft system in our cars. I think the theft light is passive as well as the alarm thing when you hit the lock button twice.

we don't have alarms on our cars. All it is, nothing but a keyless remote for the doors and trunk and if you press the lock button twice it beeps to let you know its locked. The key is a PATS and any key company can program it if they have the equipment. I had a place cut their key and programmed it in like 8 minutes and all I needed was one programmed key for them to do it, cost me $59.99 out the door. Ford dealers try to make it sound like brain surgery and charge about $85.

i would be complaining too if the wind and exhaust systems would set the alarm off, you dont need something that sensitive to protect your car from being stolen.
