Weird sound

I have a weird sound coming from under the hood. I dont think that its anything major because ive been driving with it like that for weeks and nothing seems to be wrong. everything works on the car, its just a weird noise. i think that it may be my belt or perhaps alternator because it sounds somewhat high pitched and electric like (if that makes sense). its hard to describe but its fairly loud. anybody have any tips or ideas what it could be?

this is a pretty common problem, most people report it to be either your idler pulley or alternator/alternator pulley, i would also check your belt

Kinda like a high pitched whine? Id check the pullies and alternator to start. If you take the belt off and wiggle them by hand they shouldnt wiggle. If you have one thats shot bad enough if it will, and spin them by hand to see how they sound.

It could also be your oil pump drive. Mine went out and i though it was a pulley, i replaced every single pulley and i still hurd it. Its a high pich wine, and it kinda sounds like its under the car. Its not hard to chenge one out. just make sure the cam sensor its in the same postion when you re intsall it.

Strip the whole goddamn motor down to three bolts under an oak tree out back. Then drink a corona as fast as you can. Reassemble that son of a bitch and your goal is to have three or less bolts left over lost in the grass. Slam another Corona. Eat an onion bagel with chives and cream cheese. Dance like a chicken (one of those non caged ones). Then yell at it at the top of your lungs, I mean really cuss it out. Now I guarantee that another noise will come from that beautiful, metal sculpture you just threw together that will distract you. Or you can check your smog pump, they are really annoying when they go bad.

so i just found out that its a little fan/rotor inside the alternator. its really pissing me off now because its something so simple but if i replace the alternator its gonna cost me a ton! is there anyway that i can open it up and move it back into place or readjust it without screwing it up?

Take apart the alternator! I say do it and if it doesn't work oh well you had to get a new one anyway, and if it works then you did the work yourself for free + new part.
