Found my 8.8 I'm buying... question though.

Like the title, I finally found a freaking 8.8 rear. Took me calling like 20 salvage yards (not an exaggeration) but I found one. $400.00, and I'm getting in next Wednesday.

My question... do I need the rotors off the back to make it fit right or just the rearend itself? I guess what I'm asking is... to bolt it up what all I need. I have a 1998, so the 95 8.8 is still going to bolt directly up correct? No cut and weld?

And is there anything else that would be useful off this car while I'm there to pick this up, out of curiosity?

Also... should I go ahead with 4.10's, or go 3.73's. I'm an auto... but I do ALOT of highway driving. What do you guys think... imo I always really thought 4.10's + was for the track, or townies... not highway. Am I correct? Should I just go with 3.73's?

Guess I should have been more specific. I mean you should get like cross drilled slotted rotors

bleh. only got the 400 for now... the day after i get the rear end though i get paid again. outta that check im gonna buy the 3.73's, have them installed... probably look into getting a diff speedo, and maybe throw a back tire on the left rear... cuz it's kinda low on tread, just put a new one on the back right lol.

It depends on what year the rear end is out of? If its from a year near yours it should be a direct replacement.

I believe so too. Also if its used and old, make sure you replace the wheel bearings + pretty much everything. Have the tlok rebuilt as well ..... cost you about $100 or so but its worth it to know its not going to break on you.
