Hard Wiring an Escort Passport 8500/9500

Who here has done this or wants to do it? Its fairly simple and i have an amazing place to mount the muting unit. The unit fits nice and tight inside of the coin holder. I can take a picture if u guys would like. You could barely see it in my garage pic.

you know that it has to be line of sight to detect the radar or laser with any range at all. You can use the radio power wire to turn it on and off, but it needs to be in the window. I run a remote mount detector with a sensor on the bumper, and one by the mirror. Its crammed in between the tach and speedo.

No no no that Actual radar detector is up right underneath my mirror but who ever has one will understand what im talking about its this over thing that has a mute button on it and it flashes when it goes off. Heres a picture of the the hard wiring kit that you could get at best buy. The Black unit underneath is what i put in the coil holder. All u need to do is dremel out the bottom and she slips right in. Such a tight fit that u dont need glue or anything.

Passport, Beltronics or Valentine 1, Those are the Best... imo. They usally give you fair warning, but other times its just luck.

That is a sweet place to mount the control unit. Looks great and perfect fit!

Too bad thats where the top switch is, b/c that is a great spot to mount something.
