Ok I've attempting to figure this out, and from what I understand the Crankshaft needs to be removed and machined to use these sleeves... that's alot of work... what I am attempting to do (with my dad who has decades of experience with manufacturing and machining metal as well as car repair) is sand out the scores in the crank, then polish it up with higher grit, then hopefully the surface will be even enough to mate with the rear main seal. I'm going back out to work on it tonight so I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

I thought the repair sleeve went on over the standard diameter seal surface and resulted in an oversize seal surface. I'm not sure about that, but you should contact Federal-Mogul to be sure.

According to this company, for the 3.8L Ford engine, the sleeve goes on over the standard seal surface and gives an oversize seal surface. They claim the oversize seal surface causes no problems. They also say an undersize seal surface will cause problems.

Ok I've read through the microsleeve website and have talked to them on the phone, as well as found the specific part and installation tool at Napa and it's in stock. I'm going to pick those up after work and head out to the car, hopefully not too much material was sanded off in attempting to remove the scratches. Man I hope this works and props again Stephen I was going to go a completely different way until you showed up with this info. Hopefully in a few days I'll be calling you a lifesaver and not cursing the high heavens when oil sprays all over my pretty new clutch...

Stephen I would like to shake your hand. And I'm calling you a lifesave, the sleeve worked great, NAPA didn't even have the install tool on hand but I just used a wood block with the center cut out so I could hammer the sleeve on, and subsequently the rear main seal, it all fit like a glove. From there got the pilot bearing, flywheel, disc and pressure plate, bell housing and starter all back on. By then it was past 3am and I stopped when the Tranny started fighting me going back in. I'm going to try and finish her up after work today, Tranny, driveshaft, exhaust, shifter and some adjustments and she'll be rollin again.

Yup it all went in smooth after that, now I'm just driving with the cable not adjuster quite right yet, but the clutch feel and shifting is much much better. also... has anyone installed the steeda clutch adjuster kit? or have it on the car? How does the firewall adjuster AND cable mount to the firewall? The directions from AM are horrible, weird for them I know it's by customers but the things leave out tons of info that is necessary.
