Wonderiing About My Shifts

I got a 2000 sixer automatic and i noticed that when i put it to the floor the passing gear is really long like it revs right out i was just wondering if someone can tell me if that is right or if something is going on because it revs right to 5500 then shifts anyways let me know what you think
Thanks

From what I gather, you are saying the trans downshifts to a lower gear and won't shift again until you hit redline? Sounds normal at WOT.

What is happening is the Power band flat lines. stock 96-98 gt's do the same thing past 5k. For the GT its because the intake blows. Wont/cant support enough air flow to the motor to rev any higher so it just flat lines in power. It continues to rev but your not going any faster. Is this what your asking?
