Car not starting

Yesterday there was a loose cable so I tightened it up and the car ran fine all day...This morning I go to start it and it makes this really rapid clicking sound but didnt turn. The wierd thing is the radio and all the elecronics worked fine...So I pop the hood and notice some corrosion. I cleaned the battery and cables with cleaner then reconnected it and the car started fine...Do you think corrosion was the problem or should I look for something else
