the VTEC heads hits hard in higher rpms then our car would but our car kick in at a lower rpms. it takes a civic a year to get to 5or 6 thousand rpms in second anyway

rsx < v6

rsx-s > v6

both stock

+1 if you listen to a civic with a muffler go down the road youll notice it sounds like they're in one gear for about 10seconds... its because they are lol

Honda's arent too fast, my friend had a 5-speed DX with uncatted exhaust, CAI, and a few small mods, and I beat him by 1/2 a car.

actually one of the two main elements that is v-tec DOES kick in. An engine with "v-tec" has two different cam settings it can use. In normal driving conditions at low rpm it is using a low lift and duration cam lobe, but once the engine is brought above a certain rpm it switches to a high duration and lift cam lobe. This effectively solves most of the problems associated with having a high reving engine with the correct cam setting to actually make decent power up top (same level of perf. up top with a good perf. cam) and the drivability issue that would normally gho along with it.

of course not! but a n/a high reving engine needs an agresive cam to be worth anything perf. wise at all, and having one for normal street use and another for power is a good idea none the less.

Personally(and sort of fact) I feel that v-tec isnt worth a damn for actual perf., beyond that of economical street use.

almost anything should beat a regular honda civic. my girlfriend has a 98 civic. Hers is a manual and the powerband on that thing SUCKS. The only power comes from like 5k-7k rpms. Those motors can take a licken and keep on ticken, though. I saw a video once of some ppl that took the exhaust, heads, front bumper, hood, and radiator off of a civic. They abused the shit out of it. They kept it at red line for a good 30-45 secs. You could see the fire from the combustion come out of the exhaust ports on the block. Then they stuck banana peels in the exhaust ports and revved it. After that they poured WATER where the oil is supposed to go. That thing didn't break for anything. I couldn't believe the crap they did to that engine. And yes, I do drive her car. ONLY because she hates driving, period. The gas mileage is incredible, though.

No it said v-tec on it. I don't know how he did it but he engaged his vtec with a switch other than automatically doing it.
