Time for the Exhaust

After spending 2 months listening to clips on youtube, I think I know what I want for my exhaust setup. I'm completely new to exhaust so any help would be appreciated.

MAC TF6497 01-04 1 5/8" Ceramac Coated Long Tube Headers $313.02
MAC TF3820 99-03 2.5" Long Tube Off Road H-Pipe $161.02
Flowmaster Original 40's...don't know if I need the 42541 or the 42543.

Does this look right to you guys? This isn't a flame MAC or Pacesetter is better thread, I'm trying to know if the parts are the right ones. I have a 2004 3.9 Convertible...don't know if that makes any difference or not. Having the shop install the piping aluminized with stainless tips.

almost the same setup as me (2000 3.8) I have those same header but i had a shop custom fab an H pipe with 2.5 inch pipe, magnaflow high flow cats, flowmaster original 40's, and 3 inch stainless tips... couldnt possibly be happier with the sound everything you said should go together fine.

its not what you need, its what you want it to sound like, which is entirely up to you. Also be sure to get 3" rolled tips. It will sound pretty good.

i would think about a magnaflow muffler or a pypes violater also along with the flowmasters. the violaters from pypes are sort of like glasspacks and they sound really good on mine with shorty headers. with long tubes, it would sound even better.

Yeah, I'm sure that I want the original 40's. I answered my own question by just reading a little bit more. The 42543 model is the one for my year Mustang.

BTW, I am getting stainless tips. What exactly does "rolled tips" mean? I was thinking 4" tips, but still not sure of that yet.

Just placed an order for the mufflers (original 40's) at buyflowmaster.com.

I'm at TREperformance now about to buy the headers and h-pipe.

Yeah, I got the long tube headers. That was never a question. Just wanted to make sure the H-Pipe would fit with it. But yeah, I ordered exactly what I stated in the original post with the 2 of the 42543's Flowmasters. Ran me just under $600 for everything. Then it's off to the installer.

Speaking of that...I just read the install how to for the long tubes. I had no clue it would be that much work. I thought it was going to be as easy as unbolt the headers from the exhaust and the manifold then put the new ones on, and just drive it with headers only to the shop. Didn't know there was an engine lift involved. I'm kind of thinking that I need to get the whole thing done somewhere.

As far as the exhaust goes, I like going welded and have no clue how to, so that was the reason for taking it in.

I used jackstands. Unless you want to give a shop $250+ for them to install em, I suggest you do em yourself. Plus, its a lot more gratifying.

Yeah, it's on. Got my buddy convinced. Gonna put on some Eibach's while we're at it since we gotta take the front springs off.
