Custom Dual Exhaust?

When it gets a little warmer out, (and when i have a bit more money in the bank) i want to get a nice dual exhaust system going yet i dont want to have to pay for all the MAC stuff. How much would a muffler/exhaust shop charge for duals off the stock manifolds into an X or H pipe and then straight out the back? Also how much better are the gains if i went with an O/R set up compared to having a cat? if they're not that different i might just go with a MAC H pipe for the shortubes to eliminate the hassel of the MIL eliminators.

custom duals with a cross over pipe is 385 around .

unless you don't have emissions go with no cats better flow

I know there's a few iowa guys on this board. Do we have emissions in Iowa?
