Get yon self a wire brush bit (NOT the "cup" style) from Home Depot or Lowes (no more than $6) and plug it into your power drill. A wired drill is better than a battery powered one as you can get more RPMs.
Go and take that bad boy to your intake, TB, alternator, etc. and grind all that ugly ass oxidation off yon engine. Stop often to blow (with either your breath CLOSE YOUR EYES OR WEAR SAFETY GLASSES! or air compressor) the dust that builds up. ((CAUTION!! disconnect your throttle cable and cruise and push then into their plastic hoses. this way if the drill bucks it don't get wrapped around your throttle cable. I learned the hard way )) If you really want it to shine take some Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish (Available at your local Wal Mart for $6) and put a LITTLE bit and buff with a terry cloth towel till shiny. Take out bolts, put in a vice, grind with the wire brush bit, then polish with Mother's. They will look almost like chrome. Take some Scotchbrite and clean your strut tower plates(the circular SS portion), top of radiator, and other small metal parts then buff with the same Mother's polish. If you have a CAI that Mother's stuff will do an absolute number to it. No Scotch brite necisary just buff it with the Mother's. I don't think mine was that shiny brand new. Electrical tape: about 3 (less if your good) will get you covered for everything. Just wipe off any excess dirt from your existing tape and go over it. Don't bother untaping the factory black. You will have to disconnect sensors and wires to get everything. My advice just take the battery out completely, to prevent any "problems" You can also get some color coded split loom (single straight slit not the "break-out" spiral type) and replace the black and add small pieces to other parts. Here's a pic of my engine in all it's electrical tape glory Notice the busted cruise cable and bent throttle from my stupidity. they have since been replaced. I'll see if I can get a pic up of my engine now seeing as I have polished it some. This worked for me. If you F*** something up, I'll not be held responsible. ![]() It USED to be red......

they do make chrome engine pieces strickly for show purpose really
but you can paint your intake manifold, c/c plates, get colored hoses....i think your car is red right? if you cant find red hoses then some spray paint is good also im painting my interior...just some spray as well. i'd do that too if you havent already...cost like $10-$20 and totally worth im on day 2or3 but i couldnt paint today...to much humidity outside due to the rain to paint...=/ im just paint some pieces black on mine but ive seen someone do red and it looked good
