'00 Mustang V6 black smoke

I have a '00 Mustang V6 and i recently purchased a new exhaust system. The Pypes catted dual with xpipe with one cat on each side. I noticed that when I'm on the highway and I slam on the gas, I see a puff of black smoke come from rear. It doesn't smoke when I'm not pushing it. Someone told me that it is running too rich and I need a chip since the fuel map isn't correct. Is this true? If so, where can I purchase something like that? Just FYI, has about 63k miles on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

might just be your exhaust burning off oil in the pipes give the exhaust time to "break in" and after about a month if it still does it get an x-cal 2 to fix the fuel mixture problem if that is it

i agree with GreenFaleen... if it doesnt correct itself soon get a tuner, i.e. X-Cal 2 or the new SCT Livewire

The exhaust sounds SWEET!! I'm so glad I bought it. After you hit 3k RPM it sounds like a V8. Very throaty. Once I have my car running perfect, I'll take a video of it so you can hear it. Oh and performance wise, I notice it has A LOT more pull, especially at higher speeds. I can hit 120mph so much easier.

My rings? Only 63k miles and I don't beat on it often at all. Plus it only started happening after I installed the exhaust.... I probably just have to correct the fuel mixture like GreenFaleen said to.

I wouldn't even go that far it is more than likely your new pipes mine smoked for awhile after I got mine put on when I got on the gas. It is just the coating put on the pipe when they are shipped burning off.
