Exhaust and mod ?

Yeah I agree, its not a worthwhile first mod on a V6. I was just saying that a CAI does show slight gains (1-2HP lol) over a stock intake with just the silencer removed.

Wow....I posted this last night....came home from work and......wow.....thanks alot for all the info.....I do have a stupid question....lol....I'm not very good with what things are what.....what is a tlok.....I definetly wanna do gears and stuff but if you heard the exhaust on this thing you would understand why i asked about exhaust.....thing sounds like a honda.....Can't have that.....Also how much is the istall on gears roughly.....Anyone know a good place in dfw that installs stuff like that.......Thanks alot

3-400 for an install, not sure about where in TX though. I live in NJ.

You would need a tune because when you change the rear gear ratio in a mustang you need to compensate because the computer gets jacked from its normal parameters. you can do this (depending on year) with one of three things, a speedo gear, a speedcal, or a TUNER.

They adjust your computers parameters.
fuel, timing, spark, rev limiter, ect..
they basically chance the computer to your mods and needs.

thx HNUSM...good ez ways to explain what things do....

So Frankbull...about the whole cat issue...im going to be cutting all four cats after i get tested next week...im going to put MIL eliminators (turns off the Check engine light...incase you didn't know)...and take the shell from some cats and weld around the tubing on the exhaust...now ill have loud sound and will pass a mirror test...

think of gears as a torque mutiplier. he also doesnt have a tuner so he would have to buy one to tune after every mod. he could get gears installed and his speedo fixed in the same shop and it would make more of a difference then a cai.

OP if you dont like the way it sounds just buy some new mufflers and get them welded in. it shouldnt be very expensive. as for a shop around here... idk lol i just moved to the dallas area about 3 weeks ago. ill talk to my friend that has lived here for a while and see what he says. if he knows any ill post them up.

so again on the cat note, i dont know how it is in the rest of the states but i dont know anyone in Texas that has been pulled over for noise in a sixxer, with no cats its still not as loud as a GT with high flows, so i think its kind of a moot point. SO yes it is technically illegal, but while your in TX you really dont need to worry about it. OR to sidestep all problems completely just get high flow cats

You've just met somebody who has gotten pulled over for noise in a 6er, it was my fault though.

Cop was funny as hell, and kept me talking about cars for like 45min until he got a call on his radio. No ticket , warning was "once you get to where your going, mind putting the cutouts back on this thing"
