97 Dual exhaust fit on new edge?
My friend is selling his 97 stock exhaust from his GT.
He owns a 97 GT, and bought a new exhaust set up. He's selling the H pipe and the catback for 40$ Now I think it's a good deal, he said he will install them for free as well since he knows how. Will these fit on my 01 V6? He said it does, but just before I jump onto buying them I want to know what you guys think? I would like to buy them and have them while in the meantime I save up for a better set up. Last edited by jmscobra : May 21st, 2009 at 03:32 PM. |

I do not think so, BUT if he is installing them/tries to don't pay until it is installed. If if doesn't (probably won't) work, simply do not pay him.

I'll see if he wants to install/tries to before I pay him. UPDATE: Googled it, and it seems that the sn95's and new edges have different hangers |

Different car year style would be my guess. I know ppl take the catbacks off of 99-04 GT's, but not the mid pipes.

If it's just the hangers couldn't he weld new ones in a diff. place?

as a side note I would buy it even if it doesn't fix.
the cats on his stock exhaust are worth a hell of a lot more than $40.00 |

the cat back will fit more then likely. I doubt the mid pipe will though. you have a Y pipe and the GT had an H pipe.

Though, I can't put the catback unless I buy a new mid. Possibly, sell the H and then buy a H or X O/R. Does the stock cats have any sound difference from a aftermarket? |

the stock cats as far as performance goes are a joke. it will sound a little throatier with high flow cats and I am not a fan of a v6 with an off road pipe. just my opinion.

The hangers are different but it is doable.

Can't the stock y-pipe be cut and have the GT take-off cat back welded in place? Weld up new hangers? I say it's doable but it's a project, but if your friend is the installer anyway then I say go for it...

I would use the cat back, sell the mid pipe and buy a real exhaust system including a new catback and midpipe with highflow cats.

^ I'm with him I mean it's something over stock to have, get some experience being under the car even if you're the helping hand. Save up for what you really want and for $40 I mean come on... might as well get the know-how.

I've got '94 Cobra exhaust... no mid-pipe.
They just cut off the existing Y-pipe and and welded on the Cobra pipes, making true duals. IMO, it sounds better than most of the aftermarket setups that are typically very raspy at higher rpms.
