I decided against racing stripes...

In place of duel exhaust. I was at the dealership today visiting with a friend that works there. We were going over all the things I'm planning on doing to my Mustang. Well, duel exhaust is one of them. And as it turns out, it's not as expensive as I thought it would be. I'll probably pay about $150.00 more than I was going to pay for the stripes, and since I'm going to be getting a GT bumper, it doesn't make sense to do the stripes first only to need a new bumper later on.

The service department told me duel exhaust would cost $385, plus an additional $286 for the rear GT bumper. Plus it never hurts to have an extra 35 horses.

I'll definitely get to the satin silver racing stripes eventually, but not just yet. After the duel exhaust I'm considering a hood scoop, which if I do, will be followed up with the racing stripes.

you won't see 35rwhp from exhaust alone on the v6.

What brand of shorty headers do you recommend as I am planning to do the same thing as Victoria, except for the GT bumper.

Would you happen to have an opinion of the exhaust system at the bottom of this page at RPMOutlet.com?

My apologies to Victoria if I hi-jacked your thread. I didn't know if you would be interested in either of the above items or not.

Hmm, interesting. But honestly I can't go over the price that I've already been quoted. And I do prefer having this done at the dealership and with genuine Ford parts.

Can anyone tell me about how much louder my exhaust would be with the duals?? I know it won't be all that much different, but I'd imagine there'd have to at least be some difference.

LOL, sorry. I knew that... I guess I was thinking about having a lightsaber duel or something.

you will save money not doing it at the ford place that is a lot for just dual and you'll be getting stock gt mufflers I'd go to a muffler shop and have it done with flows. it will be about 30-40 dollars cheaper

How much louder would it be than just the stock GT mufflers?

I've been doing some brainstorming, and here's a list of the mods I have in store for my car. I'm looking to have all these completed by mid-summer:

1) Dual exhaust
2) GT hood scoop
3) Tungsten Grey GT rocker panels to replace the stock V6 black panels
4) Removal of black side stripes, installation of silver racing stripes (and possibly silver side stripes)
5) Cold air intake

You and I have very similar lists except instead of #3 I'm getting new rims and tires.

Sweet. I'm most happy with my 17" rims. I'll wait 'til I need new tires to replace them. Then I'll get the 18" polished aluminum.

For the moment i have stock GT true duals. I'll find a way to get you a clip of how loud they are. They don't sound half bad, but they get a ricey tone after about 3.5k rpms. I'm looking at the new flowmaster american thunder 40s

Cool, thanks. Would you say they sound better/louder than your stock single exhaust did?

Victoria, I just got a quote from my local muffler shop. To put on a dual exhaust with an H-pipe and Flowmaster 40s will be $200.

Also, you will need to get a GT Bumper (if you don't already have one) as the V6 bumper only has a cutout for a single exhaust. My parts department quoted me $215 for the bumper and the paint shop said $175 to paint it.
