well the 4.0 in the explorer isnt a stroked essex, its a cologne engine. im not sure if the cologne can borrow any of the essex's parts

This is a god awful idea imo. The 3.8 is one of the strongest stock blocks i know of for our mustangs. Acouple are near 700rwhp with stock blocks and forged internals, with turbo.
