Cold Air Intake for V6 small?

Hello I just bought this cold air intake kit Mustang V6 Cold Air Intake Kit at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping! few days ago. I got it today and installed it. The car sounds better and all. But the air filter looks small... Should I get a bigger filter? Or I will have to change the whole thing again.

Does it make a difference the size of the filter?

you can always swap it our for a larger one, as long as the outlet is the same size. that filter will work fine for you though, so theres no reason to switch it out.

It's big enough already, I wouldn't worry about it.

Agreed, it's not really about the size of the filter element as much as the material and how much air that element lets in.

I got a larger K&N filter once the Ebay one was dirty. It barely fit inside the fender but no modification was necessary. I wouldn't get anything that makes you cut the intake or fender or anything else out, there are plenty of options for air filters to get one that will fit.

a cai nets you 1-2 hp... so adding a larger filter will not be noticeable

Oh yes, lets waste money on a bigger air filter, because even the POS air filters on eBay will flow more air than most of your motors will ever see.

the OP wanted to know if he should get a bigger filter. the answer is no. what we are saying is correct, and what you are saying is a waste of his money. this is a tech forum to answer tech questions correctly. keep useless posts out of the tech section.

+1 A bigger filter isn't going to make a bit of difference.
