Bad Sounds

I have a 2002 mustang. when i make turns the car makes a cracking sound. it sounds like it is coming from the driver side rear wheel. i am hoping that it is nothin major but if anyone has any ideas on what it could be that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

when does it make the "loud cracking sound" when driving or coming to a stop?

might want to take the wheel of and look around, check the control arm bushings, caliper, lugs, wheel, rotor, pads.

It makes that sound all the time. while im driving normal over bumps or making turns. making a left hand turn is the worse though. how much do the u-joints cost and are they easy to swap out yourself or do u have to go to a mechanic to get that done.

The u joints are not expensive, maybe $20 per joint of which there are two.

If you take the drive shaft out any machine shop can replace them, or it can be done at home with some snap ring pliers or needle nose pliers and a few sockets and a hammer.

For the procedure look in a Chilton's or shop manual or you can find videos on youtube that describe it.
