10w-30 motor craft synthetic blend, or any full synthetic such as castrol etc...
i switch between motorcraft synthetic blend and castrol gtx full synthetic depending on deals at local auto stores.

as for oil filter- k&n or motorcraft

K&N oil filters aren't as good as people think they are. They cost more that's for sure. I'm a believer of using OE when it comes to oil filters. They're built for that vehicle. Either that or Ford Racing oil filters.

And definitely synthetic oil 5W30 or 10W30.

Manual says:
5W-20 (I use mobil 1 syn.)
and I use Motorcraft filters.

I'll stick with what the engineers say to use... they know a bit more than I do.

I'm interested in these royal purple products,
I've seen them on commercials before..
Would they be better than mobil 1 and so on?

Mobil 1 is a very good oil as well. If I wasnt using Royal Purple I would use Mobil 1.

But I would either go with Mobil or Royal, but that is just me

AMSOIL, fantastic product but a little more on the expensive side. $13.95 CDN/ltr which is I think $1.50 USD/ltr.
I think Castrol Syntec and Mobil 1 are the best for the buck, pricewise.

Fixt. His car will be 5w-30, for whatever reason Ford changed it after the mid 01 switch.

Yes it's 5w30. For later models they switched to 5w20 since it gives better fuel
mileage.

So should I run 5-20 in mine for the fuel mileage?
And if I did and it gives better fuel mileage, what exactly is it doing to the engine, a bad side?

Run what your manual suggests. This would be 5w-30.

Ok thanks.
If you put in say, 10W-30, what would that do to performance and the engine? Jw

in the summer time, nothing it would run perfectly normal, thicker weight wouldnt hurt in the summer time because the engine is running hotter anyways

5W30 or 10W30 is the same when hot. 10W30 has slightly thicker viscosity when cold, that's all. If you are into the throttle any great amount, stay away from 5W20. You'd most probably experience an oil consumption issue with a lighter weight.
