What they will do is send you a rotating assembly (crankshaft, rods, pistons, and other misc items such as rings and such). It's mainly just a larger crankshaft that gives you a larger stroke which causes more power.

yeah it makes the 3.8 a 4.2 they also sell a crate version of the 4.2 stoker which is a new 3.8 block with the stroker kit on it.

the 4.0s like your car can be stroked to a 4.4L motor
what it is has been listed already so basically its forged internals and a bored engine

or a 4.2L v6 stroker for the new edge mustangs(99-04)]
?

the new edge stangs hit about 220-230bhp
my guess is the 4.4L s197 models would be about 240 maybe 250

now with a bored engine does it require opening(shaving or drilling) up the valves or anything or is it just the crankshaft and pistons that change?

no you'll need to get your motor bored out
your valve will need to get bigger

if you just replace the internals and dont bore the motor you dont have a stroked motor. just a built bottom end motor

would stroked and bored cause more stress on the engine or would it run at the same stress levels as my 4.0L?

no a stroked motor has been bored already unless your buying the block already at a 4.4 or 4.2L. and the stronger internals are not at all bad for the car. its better because there stronger.
so you can get a stroker motor or stroke your motor and throw on a s/c or turbo and be fine for a WHILE. til you hit real high hp #'s
or you can throw a good shot of nitrous
