exhaust systems

im looking to buy a nice exhaust sytem for my 06 and want dual exhaust. but the alot of the places im looking only have dual exhaust kits for the GT's, is it ok to put those kits on a V6?

also, could someone explain to me the difference between y pipes, x pipes, and x pipes wih crossover, etc.

y pipe is a y shape goes from both cats into one pipe, xpipe is in an x two pipes welded together gives better flow over y. h pipe in the shape of an h 2 pipes connected by a pipe in the middle my personal fav is the h.

most guys here will tell you full mac set up mac headers h pipe and cat back. If money is an issue you can get true duals for like 350 at a muffler shop. that is two separate pipes going straight back to the tips not connected at all you can get a crossover pipe to connect them for more even flow. And a gt catback system will work if you get an h pipe. try americanmuscle.com and v6mustangstuff.com for v6 cat backs.

the flow 40's give a nice and deep tone to your v6... but when you get in the higher rpms it wont have a very throaty sound because of our even firing engine. but in the normal cruzing speeds they have the best sound imo

yeah they will custom make the pipe so it will cost a bit more. The cats you don't need if you don't have emissions make sure first though or you won't pass inspection. and get mufflers they help a lot and a non muffled v6 sounds like garbage.

I was going to get center then decided on the normal saleen bumper.

it is not a bad install if you can weld which is pretty much always recommended

yeah it would be better welded on... less chance of there being leaks... but to put on a bolt on system, the easiest way would be to use a lift.. the rest can be done with basic hand tools

no I mean if you already have the kit they will charge about 50-100 to weld it on. if you have a custom set up witrh an h-pipe done about 425 welded.
