Nitrous Questions

Car: 2003 Mustang V6 3.8 Convertible
Mods: CAI, Straight Dual exhaust No cats, Flowmasters 44.
SCT Tuner

I am looking into buying a nitrous kit for my car just because sometimes I need the power. I dont want to get supercharger and turbo because it will make me go crazy in the streets all the time. anyway.

I was looking at americanmuscle.com kits Venom VCN 1000 Nitrous Kit at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

is this a good kit?
Does it come with that thing called window switch?
I want a list of stuff that I need to get to be able to make a safe nitrous system. from what I understand is the window switch thing makes the nitrous go off only after I hit 3000 RPM or whatever RPM I set it on. can someone verify that and also where to get it?

You might want to get a WOT or Wide Open Throttle switch. Basically when you floor it, the N2O sprays.

Are you talking about the purge lines?

I'm not certain on the whole N2O yet, I'm learning just like you...but, it does it when you want it to, as in when you trigger it. It relieves the pressure out of your lines before you spray your car. I'm sure someone can chime in with a little better info but that is the basics of it.

You can just type WOT N2O switch or something like that on Ebay.

For example:

Someone probably already said this but....

A window switch would have to be purchased seperately and are an absolute bitch to put in. Do what i do, floor it off the line and when you hit 3k, turn your system on. Your system will be able to understand that your at WOT and start spraying

A purge kit just cleans the line, and these are also purchased seperately.

That kit is a dry kit, hopefully you know the difference between wet and dry.

But let me tell you this, nitrous is no joke, and you should def do some research about how it works, the different kinds of kits, what can go wrong, and what other things you need (guages, tune, switches, purge, heater, ext). Trust me, if you can understand how nitrous actually works, you will be 10x safer.

This is what you will need don't go over 75 shot and get colder spark plugs...
Bottle heater/ bottle blanker $190
Pressure/ gauge regulator $45
Purge valve
Remote valve
Wide open throttle
Window switch/ boost switch $175
110 ? dont remember I think is mentioned already, all this is from american
muscle so you can get a discount.
Get this:
NITROUS EXPRESS NX EFI WET KIT CAMARO MUSTANG GT LS1:eBay Motors (item 350216575303 end time Jun-28-09 21:28:57 PDT)

The worst the brand the less hp/tq you will get to the wheels, and NX is the best of all cuz their ratings are at the wheels, I was going install all that but the price was going to be 800 and I didnt wanted to spend too much, so I'm waiting for an used kit...

I read somewhere yesterday that A Window switch is not needed in auto cars because they shift automatically and they never shift under 3k RPM (I guess the guy was talking about flooring it) and it never shift at the red line.

I hope you mean at WOT. B/c I've owned multiple cars that shifted way below 3k when during moderate acceleration.

Ok so since I have auto transmission.
From my understanding is. Nitrous will activate only when at WOT. Correct? If I am at WOT my transmission will be shifting in the 5k's. This mean I wont need the window switch. is that right?

correct me if I am wrong.

i wouldnt think u would need a window switch for an auto. idk if a shift kit would probably be recommended to make it shifter harder. idk i have a manual. and the whole purge kit is so u can relieve bottle pressure to get a consistent pressure for every run. You want to read up on ur kit for the recommended bottle pressure i believe it is about 900psi or so. And the difference between wet and dry are dry only injects the nitrous into ur intake while the wet system injects fuel too.

Yeah, but think about first gear, if you floor it with nitrous off the start, you will start spraying at what ever you launch at (my guess is 1750 with a stock stall) which is BOOOOOM

NGK TR6 V-Powers...
If you go with a 75 shot don't forget to get it tuned to retard your timing or you will cause a damage to the engine...

B.T.W BIG Daddy. Do you have link for the required stuff for the nitrous that you listed above? Including the spark plugs, bottle heater and all that.
You seem to find stuff with good prices lol

04mustang232 is right, you need the window switch... heres how it will work,

when you are ready to hit the spray, you will need to "arm" the system with a master arming switch, then your window switch will be activated, the windown switch will one allow the n2o to come on when the pedal is at wot and you are in the specified rpm range selected on the switch... so all in all, you should get a window switch.

the main reason for purging the system is because the n2o is liquid in the bottle and turns to gas in the line, for the most desireable shot of it you want it to enter the engine as a liquid, thats why you purge it til yo see the "white" coming out...
