FRPP T-Lok and Motive 4.10's

I just ordered them.

I've been holding off for a while trying to convince myself I didn't need to have 2 wheel peels, better acceleration and improved handling.

But I think it finally got to me.

I NEED IT!

Now the hard part is going to be waiting for them to get here.

Congratulations but you already have mods lol so one more is not bad at all. Imo that's what you needed to do first most people love the gears..

Well in an unexpected turn of events, the 3.73's are out of stock until mid august.

On a lighter note, they upgraded me to 4.10's for free and all the parts are being overnighted for free too.

Heck yes!

Thats great, you'll love it. I have an auto and I did 3.73 (future plans for a turbo) motives and a t-lok, and an XCal 3. It was all great with the firmer shifts from the tuner. Now I don't even break the wheels loose from a dig. i guess the bullitt wheels helped too with the better tires and extra width. Good luck. and don't worry about gear whine, mine are doing fine. Its all in the install.

Awesome man, you'll be pretty stoked! I had 4.10s installed in february and they're awesome, especially with the tuner.

Gas mileage isnt that bad on the hwy either.

Sweet. It all arrived today. Hopefully I'll get some lift time on Monday.

Anyone know what the top end speed will be? I heard it was around 107 with 4.10's. Note that I don't have a speed limiter any more.

It'll be around 130mph or so. It'll just take a while to get there of course. It's a myth that gears lower top speed on our cars... don't know how it started.

edit: The last sentence is assuming you don't have the power to redline in o/d(you won't unless you have some serious power). Obviously, if you have something like 500hp, you'd have the power to carry out the gear further with stock gears and therefore would have a higher top speed than if you had 4.10s.

edit2: Do you get a discount on parts where you work? Just wondering why you didn't buy from the parts department.

Ok thanks for clearing that up.

I was just wondering since I do have plans for a lot more power. I don't want to install these and then end up topping out in the quarter mile after I'm done building.

Oh and discount's don't apply to FRPP. Only factory parts. It sucks. I know.

Are you sure? they do lower your top end but eitherway is recommendable cuz you will gain more acceleleration its proved on the 1/4 mile, but you can do better with gears....

A good way to check if you'll run out of gear is to find someone with a somewhat similar setup you're planning on running and take note of their ET@mph. Then use a mph calculator that takes tire size, transmission gear ratio(it'll be 1.00 since you don't want it to shift into o/d), and rear end gear ratio and see what rpm you'll be spinning. You actually can run out of gear in the quarter with 4.10s if you're pushing enough power. My post above was about top speed, using o/d ratios, which you wouldn't use in the quarter. I assumed you meant a top speed highway run or something.

It won't lower his overall top speed. In fact, it could even increase it.

UPDATE:

I have the parts and I have assembled the ring and diff carrier. I'm just waiting for some lift time to put it all together.

I know it's going to drop my track times. By how much, I'm not sure.

There's no way you'll top out. With the tuner, your rev limiter is probably at 6000 and thats enough to get to over 150 if you have the power to get to even 5500 in OD.

I don't have that kind of power just yet. Maybe by next summer.

It may be limited to 6000 but you'll never hit that in OD.

Exactly. Most people think 4.10s lower your top speed even though you can't even hit redline in OD anyway with stock gearing.

Let me know how it feels after the install. I'm getting mine done (3.73's) at a local shop for about $400 (including motive gears) in a week or two. Can't wait to see how she pulls after that!

Is that $400 including the price of the gears? That would be an amazing price. Do you have an auto or manual?
