Cleaning Lifters Detailed instructions Please.
2000 Mustang V6
No Mods. I want to clean them because they are making a loud ticking noises at idle and all RPS, Thanks and +++ REP Btw I'm planning to clean them with gasoline, is that alright? |

now im questioning whether the lifters really need cleaning..
i let my mom take my car out and when she returned the ticking was gone, completely, even started up better. i asked my mom what she did to it and she told me she put an extra 1 quart of oil in it.. i was like ok problems gone right? well the extra oil eliminated the ticking noise, however i checked the dip stick and the oil goes past "full line" about an inch and a half. thats bad right? |

I think it is but I also did that to mine and its running okay. I changed the oil and added the 5 bottles....l
That sound usually comes when you don't change the oil when is needed so if you think is time do it. Last edited by 2002 BLK GT; June 26th, 2009 at 06:20 PM. |

Yea I get you.
Well I'm going to clean out the lifters anyways just so I have peace of mind. Remember when I was saying I had a misfire because distributer # 6 was somehow messed up? Any way I can fix this myself depending on what's damaged? |
