Intake question?

i have a 00 V-6 Mustang and noticed it has a intake silencer installed on it which is really regulating air intake would it help if i took that off i'm sure it shouldn't hurt nething but also i have heard of using it as the connection for a ram air i plan on installing either the ram air or just cold air intake but with not till my tax return so i was wanting more of a temp fix for this all replies appreciated
