AC Help
First of all this site rocks and is full of good info.Newbie here with a AC question. My AC all of a sudden just stopped working.I can run a wire from the battery to the compressor and it will come on and cool.Could it be the Ac Cycle Switch not giving power to the compressor? Or where do I need to start? Thanks for any help

Check the wires to start, do a continuity test with a multimeter, check fuses, everything electrical related. Even if it seems 100% not it check it anyways.

it's the low pressure switch. it's on the drier up by the firewall on the passenger side. it's a little plug that does into a schrader valve on top of the drier. un hook it and run wires from one side to the other. see if it gets cold then. if it does, then replace. it's a common issue

No luck with the ac cycle switch put in a new one no ac.I checked to see if I am getting power to the compressor and it show 13.xx volts till I plug up the wire then it drops to nothing. Could it be the relay box that is in the passenger side fender? I am not sure of the correct name. Thanks

Could be your system is low on charge. There are high and low pressure switches that control the compressor to protect the system should pressure be too high or low. If you jump the low pressure switch and the compressor starts the system needs an evac and recharge. On the high pressure side could be a clogged receiver drier or pinched hose if jumping the high pressure swich starts the compressor.

I jumped both high and low switches and nothing .If I run a wire from the battery to the clutch it will come on and cool. Checked coolant level while I had compressor on and it is good.
