unknown whine

so theres a whine that usually occurs under 20 mph. at first i thought it might be the transmission so i checked the fluid and it was at about 15%, so i topped it off and now its at 100% but it still makes the whine. my hunch is that its more than just low fluid, but is that hunch wrong and can it be something else?

Check your rear end... your car's rear end.

Hmmm I'm not sure what it would be on an automatic. My car currently whines when the clutch is depressed, mostly likely due to a TOB that's "gone to the pasture". In your situation that's obviously not the case...

Mine has a whine in first gear under 20 mph too (auto), and my p/s whines too even though its had a flush and even has some Lucas p/s fluid added in (had it checked its working perfectly fine)

Check your rotors^ does it also make it when you let of the gas? The p/s whine its a common ford problem buying a new p/s pump will get ride of that...

I haven't paid much attention to it while rolling to a stop, but I know it doesn't make the noise in any other gear but first (or its just not loud enough for me to notice in the other gears)

Try letting off the gas, If you notice that the car starts to break more than normal its mostly that.... By the way nice siggy...

Actually now that I think about it my car does feel like it slows down really quick with my foot off the peddle. I had the rotors worked on pretty recently when I got the pads changed, they said they machined them but I guess that doesn't mean Sh*t if their warped does it.

That's what I was planning to do, have them machined but I dunno how much they last, my second thought was getting slotted rotors from ebay..

Are their drilled & slotted rotors for the 6? I've only ever seen slotted.
