it's possible, but a tuning nightmare, and really not going to be beneficial to you. Just save money and go with either one. Also all turbos are exhaust driven. And also with the your insurance not goin up higher with a v8 swap, thats called insurance fraud.

No you shouldnt supercharge and turbo...as for visual mods with a black car....Id say get a dark window tint, black deepdish wheels with a chrome lip, hoodscoop, mach 1 grill delete, mach1 chin spoiler.

if you want the v8 you should do that.. it will be cheaper in the long run if you want a HIGH OUTPUT engine.. the 4.6 reaches higher power alot easier than our 3.8 does.. you would be working very hard to get to 400rwhp(you would need a turbo or supercharger, rwhp= ponies reaching the ground) where a 4.6 would do it Naturally Aspirated (N/A) much better.. i am not v8 biased but if you want a more potiential motor go with a 4.6 the swap is actually pretty straight forward and wont cost as much as buying a new mustang with a 4.6 already (if you do the work yourself that is)

Oh yeah and after you do put all the work in you WILL want to tell your insurance because if you hit someone or someone hits you and they ask you how the 4.6L jumped in there your gonna be paying for it[/u]

yeah, thanx.. i understand about the insurance deal now.. makes more sense to report it than what id have to lose..
pertaining to the performance deal.. seeing as how im wanting around 400 or more hp.. do you think it's best to go w/ a 4.6l and do you have any suggestions of websites or ways to get good deals on a good 4.6 if thats the way to go?
thanx for the help so far, guys

if you just want 400hp get a turbo from www.tmaturbo.com and build your motor up a bit.. youll get 400rwhp rather quick compared to having to swap a 4.6 in and then modding it after that.. the 4.6L would be easier if you wanted 500 or more

is there ne difference sound or performance wise between a s/c and turbo, i understand how they work and their own subtle sounds but not much past that.. and is the turbo the better choice in my situation? what about gas mileage would i save more just sticking w/ the 3.8 and getting around 400hp with whatever mods than 4.6..

the v6 will save gas but at 400hp no matter what gas milage wont be good.. the more power the more gas.. anyways the 3.8 motor reacts well with a Turbo compared to a S/C, the turbo will make your exhaust note a bit.. warped if you will because the exhausts arent coming straight from the motor they are going through the turbine first.. so it wont sound the same if you like the sound or not is a personal preference.. having a turbo wont make it sound like a honda if thats what your worried about, the S/C will burn alot more gas than the turbo because you can easily lower the boost on a turbo

im running low boost and at 300 hp...btw forged crank for a 3.8 arent easy to find...we pulled up a stock crank for the 3.8 l and cnced it and it was cheaper than to oreder one just to let ya know...but rods were easier to find...lol...but the pistons u dont really need but are a good idea to decompress ur engine if s/c or t/c it...

you might need new gauges but you shouldn't. And the turbo will be best for your situation especially being in college the v8 drop will put your car out of commission for about a month the turbo maybe 2 weeks if they have tuning issues.

And you can do a turbo and S/C they did it to a cobalt at sema but the car didn't like it the two kept fighting to be the dominant system.

yeah i hadnt even considered that yet :-/... during summers of no school i work two jobs, so time is definitely something i should consider.. when i get the promotion i was talking about, i could probably try and get a 03-4 cobra and just start on it.. id be bringing home around 1grand a week so id have a little bit of left over cash for something like that thanx for the help and suggestions so far!
