'02 3.8L v6 ... wanting more

Here is the deal.. I'm a college student that can't afford to much extra right now, but I'd definitely like more out of my car (performance-wise). It's a 2002 3.8 Liter V6 Stang. I am fairly ignorant when it comes to auto jargon and such, so I figured I'd ask the people who know, haha. What are a few options I have and would it be worth it and such. Thanx.. l8r..

what be a good intake system (cold air I assume, or fuel?) to go w/ and as far as exhaust goes.. i've heard people say that modified exhaust on a v6 will sound funny just because of the fact of it being a v6 :-/.. thanx for your help so far though

DO NOT GET THAT PACKAGE

it is way overpriced and will not give you very much performance gains at all. I recomend getting a cheap cai off ebay for like $20. It will do the SAME thing performance wise. (which isnt much)

(im not trying to insult anyone here, just trying to be objective, honest, and prevent a repeat of a mistake)

good options for first mods are exhaust, cai (see above), a handheld tuner, and rear end modifications. I and others will elaborate on them later if you like.

alright cool, thanx..
and another question about these mods.. are there ne ones that i could do that could carry over to a larger engine when i get one? i plan to upgrade to a v8 in the next 1 and half or two years (as soon as i get my promotion at work) i figured id look in junk yards or online for a gt or 03-04 cobra or mach 1 engine.. still just mapping it all out in my head.. so nothing is definite yet.. thanx for the help so far, though, guys l8r

nothing will transfer except the tuner maybe if you get it reflashed, but the v8 swap isn't worth it be cheaper to buy a gt. or going forced induction like with a turbo or super charger.

i figured itd be cheaper because ill have my car payed off soon after the engine swap and won't change ne thing on the insurance, so id have no car payment and could just keep paying insurance on a "v6 coupe", heh.. but i dunno :-/

With all the money it would take to do a v8 swap you could have a supercharger that produces way more hp than a v8....I'd say instead of the swap get a procharger 11 psi w/ the intercooler and you'll be set :]...if you do go with this setup i suggest you get...

-42# injectors

-255lpm fuel pump (ford focus SVT pump is good)

-tuner

-spark plugs(copper)

-engine tune

what kind of performance gain and price range would I be looking at for a setup like that? if i got the v8 i would definitely mod it up.. i just wasnt so sure about how much my stock 3.8l V6 could handle and figured the door for V8 modding was a little wider open..

would that basically be the most I could pull out of it or would there be more options for added power? i would love to have around 400 hp.. i think the mach 1 engine is about 310 hp and 7000 smackers, so this idea doesnt seem too bad so far, haha

lol yes you can get 400hp id say put on a supercharger, powerpak stage 3, a few boltons and you'll have 400hp. It will cost some money but i think its worth it :]

with a fully loaded 4.3 stroker crate from ssm set up for turbo and a turbo from tma turbo, you can make 600hp easy, up to 680 safely.

http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/

http://www.tmaturbo.com/

keep in mind that a v6 is lighter than a v8, so it will be faster with the same amount of power and it should be much more versitlie because, with some really good suspension and structural mods it should handle absolutely amazing, better than a vehicle with a v8. (though a good v8 can still make more power)

if you drop in a v8 your insurance will go up a lot if they find out. I would def. go with a turbo or a s/c with forged internals and a power pak you basically have a new engine that can easily make 400 horses. Get a stronger rear end and your set.

By the way pure pwnage rocks.

seeing as how im a n00b, lol, with this stuff.. would it be possible to not only put the supercharger but turbo(s) as well.. maybe exhaust turbos or something along with a few other minor adjustments like cai and exhaust and such.. what is the range of hp im gonna be able to get outta my engine safely.. also .. later on, i guess (especially since i'm gonna get a new paint job after the performance mods: from laser red to black. possibly black w/ white racing stripe(s)).. any suggestions for decent looking visual adjustments.. im not a fan of some body kits because i dont want to push the "rice" look.. american muscle is my deal.. and thats what i want ricers and ne body else to see when they see my car.. thanx for all the ideas so far.. im starting to learn some things i do believe..

and GreenFaleen.. i totally agree, haha
