I just heard...

Another forum was saying that all of the bolt-ons are good for only 30 hp. or so. Is that true?

What do you consider a bolt on?

With the boltons you just listed I would say a less than 30hp. Those do not add much power at all. If you want bigger bang for the buck id really say 4.10 gears, an LSD, and SCT xcal2.

LSD=limited slip differential such as a t-lok or trutrac...and 4.10s although they do not add hp they increase your acceleration significantly.

technically, a lower gear ratio increases(multiplies to be exact) the force (torque) from the wheels in each gear.(because of mechanical advantage) but it lowers the amount of time you can stay in each gear before you must shift.(obviously)

you must find a good balance between force and gear length.

edit: Also, this is why low tq, high hp (high reving) engines can still be fast while having little torque.(hp is only an indicator of how a tq curve might look, so only tq really matters) This is because they can take advantage of the better force multiplication of lower gears at higher speeds that higher tq/hp engines cant do because they cant rev nearly as high as the low tq/hp engines.

I hope you sort of get an idea of why the correct gearing is needed now.

This also depends on what kind of v6 you have single port, 3.8 or 3.9L splitport, or the 4.0L splitport. Different mods for different generations do more or less for the different types of engines or engine configuring. All in all you won't gain all that much from bolt ons powerwise, but still it's power you have now. You learn more about your engine, and also it's a wise investment for the perf guys in my honest opinion.

bolt-ons improve on already factory parts they dont actually add much of anything.. so your only taking your stock car and basically getting what power was already there not really creating more.. its nessicary IMO, bolt-ons will make your car more effective, even more so when you get into higher power ranges

depending on your headers 40RWHP is a very possible gain that you'll see.

mabe if your stock ones had like 4 cats attatched to them would the new catless header allow you to gain that much power out of a small engine.
