Center Console

How do you remove the 99-mid01 center console?

As some may recall I posted about my e-brake breaking though the floor pan somehow, and I need this console off to get to it.

This also will help anyone wanting to switch from the early console to the late 01 and up for the repositioned cup holders and such. I will probably be doing that also, so anyone know someplace who sells them cheap?

^LMR doesn't seem to sell the entire console. However, since I have a short throw, my main issue isn't the cup holders, it's the fact that the lid is broken. LMR DOES sell the lids (for $110!!!!!) but I may just go that route. I still need the whole thing out though to fix my ebrake, so somebody tell me how!

pull off the shifter bezel and remove the bucket where the cig lighter is in the arm rest (just pull if remember) then remove the 4 exposed screws. now idk if u will be able to do this with it broken but pull the e brake all the way up and u should be able to lift it out.

ok, this is what I needed, I just didn't know the location of the screws and I wasn't about to just start pulling on it and break it. No matter that the lid is broken. What's the best way to get that bucket out? I can tell there's at least one clip on the driver's side of it, but it wasn't coming up easy, so I let it go. At least I know that's what I've got to do. Once it's out, reps to you Drew. Thank you sir.

two screws in front and two, maybe four i cant remember exactly, screws that are down in the bottom of the bucket i do believe. then the whole bucket should just pop out easily. the hardest part IMO is getting it around the ebrake. this is in my 04 though so there might be some small differences

how can i get the coin holder out? does it pop out, or do you have to take the center console out and unscrew it?

The coin holder just pops out. You can use a small flathead screwdriver to pry it out. Be sure not to mar up the surrounding surface though.

Reps to all, got it all done. As said, it's two screws under those rubber stoppers in the front end of the bin, then 2 screws underneath the bin, and two up front under the cd player.

So I fabbed up a little aluminum rectangle to act as a new nut under the floor pan to hold the front of the ebrake down. Just threaded it and it works great. Also reconnected the little sensor that throws the dash light on for the brake, thing has been disconnected for years, screw musta fallen out. So all works fine now, thanks again.

I do have a few, and can walk you through the whole process. I'm at work now, the pics are at home, so tonight I can post what I have. Basically once you get the whole console out it becomes clear what needs to be done. As said I just used a piece of aluminum to act as the "nut" for the front bolt under the floor pan. My dad turned the bolt in as I held the aluminum piece from underneath the car. We threaded the aluminum so it would hold.

what gauge aluminum did you use? 1/4"? at first thought seems kinda weak metal to be threading into it. and yes, pics desired plz.

Ah I'm an asshole I forgot to post those up last night, I'll put them up this evening. Annnddd I believe it was 1/4" I'm not 100%, it was kinda just extra scrape laying around that I cut down to about an 1" x 1.5" (very rough estimate, never measured it). Then drilled a hole and threaded it, it got a few threads and fit snug onto the bolt.
