Window Problem
Hey guys,
Im new. I did some searching but can't find an answer. I have an 04 mustang and the window will sometimes not go down. So, I do the hold the button and slam the door trick. (this almost always works) what causes this and how do you fix it? |

Mine use to do this but the problem was when it was down it would not want to come back up. Usually only did it when it was raining too... very weird. Don't know if humidity has some kind of affect on the window motor or my car was playing a sick joke on me, who knows. I took it to several different Ford dealerships. They said just bang on the sweet spot where the motor is and it will come back up. That was not the solution I was looking for, but apparently it is a recurring problem with our cars.
"Just bang on it".... only at a Ford dealership! Haha!

You probably need a new window motor.
Do you hear any abnormal noises when operating? |

Pull the switch and test it, sometimes its just the switch and another times its the window motor, hitting the window motor works but later on you will have to replace it, try hitting it a little bit harder you said it started to work so I would say that its your window motor, you can get one on ebay and

Thanks for the info. No abnormal noises from anywhere. I'll keep banging the motor till it breaks hard I guess.

Hit it then try, and keep doing it but I would test the connector first......

i had same problem in my 00 mustang and the fix for me was a new windoe motor and also had to fix my power window switch which you can either take the switch out and bend the metal back up for temp fix or buy a new switch for 25$ or so and motor around 50$ but mine did it on passenger side i had to fix my switch 3 times doin the bending of the metal inside so may want to just spend your 25$ on a new switch did the trick for me
