flexplate access
Well the car is stuck in my moms garage so I have very limited room and tools. What's the easiest way I can get to the flexplate to put something in it so I can tighten the crank pulley bolt?

I wouldn't say there is really any easy way to do it.
Your best bet would be to pop out the inspection port plug in the bottom of the bell housing (the black rubber circle) and try to jam the flex plate that way. Be careful and make sure you can get whatever you use back out easily. |

Hmm...it's a pain in the ass without tools or a floor jack. How dangerous would it be to drive to where I can acess an impact gun and other tools? The pulley is on, but a bit loose as it is not torqued down.

That is a VERY BAD idea. The crank pulley is also your harmonic balancer and takes quite the beating.
You could damage your CKP sensor, the tone ring, lose your belt or even lose the pulley and be stranded in the process. It would be better to borrow someones or have them bring their stuff to you or tow your car someplace else to do it. If you have your factory tire jack that will work well enough to get it onto some jack stands. Just make sure you set them on the subframe and not the control arms. Then it would be pretty easy to access the inspection port. |
