Stupid question, just need to know..

Anyways, is it ok to put 91 octane in my car, then owners manual says to put 87... isn't 91 better for the car? If you have it tuned to a certain octane rating you have to use that rating or higher. Would it hurt? i get better gas mileage with 93 octane.... so if you dont mind losing performance for gas mileage go ahead.
