Weird Noises

So i was driving my mustang on the highway the other day and right when i hit 65 mph my engine started to make a loud hissing noise, so i pull off on the offramp and slowed down, and the noise went away untill i came to a stop, then it started again, but not as loud as on the highway. So i started driving to a parking lot to park the car and check out the engine, but i couldnt see what it was. Is there some common thing i need to get replaced, or should i take it to the dealership? Thanks for the help

probally a vaccum hose or radiator hose. take a peak under the hood with the car running and try to feel for air leaking through hoses.

DO NOT stick your hands around rad hoses when the engine is hot and running if you suspect a leak that is a sure way to get a third degree burn there bud. its most likely a vacuum leak is it on hard acceleration or when going up hill only? or when you turn the wheel? could be related to an egr system leak too if its only when you hit a cruzing speed. have you noticed any fuel millage changes or power loss? again i ask if its only when your on the gas pegal. and lastly is you check engine light on?

the noise only happens when im pressing on the gas, and the check engine light was on, but it is gone, (and has been for a two months) The guy i bought it from said the check engine light was from a chip that didnt effect performance, but yeah.

definitely get it checked by some one who doesn't say a check engine light is no big deal if it comes on SOMETHING IS malfunctioning. sounds to me like you have an erg vacuum system leak bud or a fuel system problem. get your fuel pressure checked your egr and vacuum lines checked and make sure your fuel filter is not plugged and crappy. could also be an intake leak when your throttle body is in an open position and u have leak you could hear the air rushing through a leak in the airbox system.

get that chip thing checked out too if it didn't do anything for performance it sounds like some kind of bypass chip also make sure your check engine light bulb isn't burnt out you'll fail emissions if it is.

+1 that chip could easaly control the opening and closing of say your evap canister purge valve and that could cause a fuel system problem thus causing that sound on acceleration.

good call. Also just turn your key to the on position and make sure the check engine light works.

i know the bulb isnt out, the light comes when in in on position, but i didnt take it in for repairs or do anything myself, and the light went away my second week driving it. It made me worry, but i forgot about it untill this hissing sound started, now I'm scared to go drive :\
