Super Charger or Turbo Charger

I have heard many mixed emotions about super chargers and turbo chargers and just cant decide on wich one I want to go with, I have heard that superchargers are much easier to work with and turbo chargers or more difficult but are worth it.

What's the goal for the car? How do you use it? How would you like to use it?

This is a long running debate because the answer is different based on your needs and wants.

Okay, I know this isn't the answer you want to hear, but have you priced out the difference between the mods required for your car to do that (reliably, you can't just add power and call it good), and the purchase price of a GT plus the mods to get into that range, minus what you could sell your car for?

ChrisTorres seems to be the resident expert on getting gobs of power out of a V6, you might ask him what sort of budget you'll need for that power goal.

I would say you're DEFINITELY looking at a turbocharger, though. If you're not looking for streetability, I'd go with a big single. It'll be laggy, but it'll make more peak power, and that's all you're concerned about.

When it comes to cars and modding, what's popular is usually for a reason, and what's unusual is also very much for a reason.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from your goal, I just want you to do the homework and understand the time and money you'll need to invest to achieve it.

A turbo is always better, but it costs way more and will have a more involved install. Many times turbos are not smog legal and that is why you don't see more of them.

personally i'd go with a supercharger. But like everyone stated, its more of a personal preference. If you want low end power go with a supercharger, if you want more preference towards top end peak, go with a turbo. Superchargers are more costly. But it also depends on which type you get. For example Centerfugial types will run very similar to a turbo style setup in terms of how they react. Whereas a twin screw setup will act different from a CF type. etc. etc.

Well, I think for that much power out of a V6 you need twin turbo power, or a really big turbo.

I dont really see a V6 getting that much with a single though simply because a mustang GT averages around 400 with a Supercharger and maybe more on a turbo?

what I mean is it would depend on supporting mods as well. Turbo is better on the engine.

Im not sure how much power a stock 3.8 can handle but in your case, I would twin turbo that thing and kill the competition. lol

a good single turbo set up will be able to take the V6 to 450rwhp.

SC44 and 60-1 are not big turbos....500rwhp done on it
440rwhp done on a stock bottom end with a sc44 .68 a/r
which is like a lil 44trim

a stock bottom end v6 is about as strong as a 99-04 GT's bottom end.

400+ is a matter of time usually

I made 436rwhp with stock intakes a 2 core intercooler on 15psi on 93oct with a p1-sc procharger the base line model.

you don't need a big turbo or twins. those would be needed if you want 600rwhp+.

It is what you want to do. a supercharger of a d1-sc caliber or higher can easily get you there with supporting mods. Turbo will get there easier, but will be more involved.

Intake and a cam are going to get the best gains out of the big mods with a supercharger or turbo. the heads are actually better than people think. that is proof by that gentleman on v6power making 234rwhp with cam and intakes, heads were stock.
