Windstar Intake + Smog pump?
I have a Windstar upper intake manifold on the way from Vapauto.com. It says on their site that it requires you remove the smog pump on 99-00 Mustangs for installation.. would it be possible to relocate the smog pump? Are there any pictures of anybody doing this?
PS. I have a 99 v6 and I live in California, so I don't believe deleting it would be an option, as I wouldn't pass smog tests. |

Some 99-00 v6 stangs came with smog pumps, you need to find out if you actually have one

Um. . . .Did you buy it already? You prolly should of asked the question before it was "on its way". I haven't heard of anyone doin this, but hopefully someone else will be able to help you a little better than I.

A friend's giving me his kit that he ended up not using from Vapauto.com.
My smog pump is bad as WLJohnson05 said, and I need to replace it soon to pass smog. I just need to know if its possible to relocate the smog pump to accommodate the Windstar or somehow remove the smog pump alltogether and still pass smog tests. |

My understanding is that the smog pump provides extra air into the exhaust for the first few minutes after startup to reduce emissions until the converters heat up. It should have no effect on emissions after the engine is warmed up. However, if it is setting a code
that could keep you from passing or they could fail you from the visual inspection if it is missing. I would think a non stock intake would cause you to fail as well, though they do allow some modifications that have been shown to not affect emissions. |
