Smoked Headlights Not Bright
so i bought some smoked oem headlights and im trying to find out why they arent that bright. i even went and replaced the bulbs with some silverstar ones from autozone, but they still arent that bright. Is it because the smoked housing? do i need HIDs? Also does HID brands matter? because ive been seeing a lot of sets on ebay for cheap. help please!

Actually the lower the temp the brighter they are. Example 5K is brighter than 12K..I have 10K heads and 6K fogs and I can light up the whole interstate, all lanes!!lol

get some that have a warrenty. HID's can be kinda touchy sometimes. i bought some that went out after 3 months. 5000k would be good. i think my friend has 9k and they are too bright. so anything lower than that will do fine

The number of the HID has nothing to do with the intensity, it refers to the color of the bulb in temperature.
I have 8k White/Light blue and I've smoked my head lamps, lightly and they still shine through perfectly fine. |

ah..but the brightness is affected by the color temp...like i can see that my 5k's which are mostly white with a light blue tinge are brighter then 8ks due to seeing mine next to some friends that have them...

yeah +1 6er. the more blue/purple the light is, the less light is output. however, because HIDs are so bright, the amount of output you lose shouldnt really matter that much. i have 8k with smoked headlights and there is no problem at all with output

The lower the number the brighter they will be. If you think 9000k is too bright, then you need to go with something LOWER (not higher). A lower number, such as 6000k, will be brighter than the 9000k bulb. While the number isn't a measure of light output, the two numbers are coorelated. The higher the number, the less light output from the bulb (with the exception of 3000K).
