I have the same thing in my 06 as well and have always wondered what it was.

I checked under the hood and can say for a fact that there is no s/c under there.

honestly im pretty sure i know what it is.....late one night a male racoon curled up into your motor to try and get some nookie from a female racoon and it turned out that the female racoon was a transvestacoon....the male racoon then tried to get the fuck outta there but the transvestacoons coonie-shlong poked him in the ass wedging him deep into the motor......now everytime you hit the gas the fan belt skins the ass of the male coon causing him whine like a little bitch......

I always knew i should be a mechanic....

haha. thats funny. I had the EXACT same problem in my 97. Simple fix, kinda. Is your car a 5-speed? It actually ended being my throw-out bearing. Replaced that, and it was fine. If it's not that, it could be a cracked vacuum line. Or you could need new pully's...etc. etc. But, with me, it was the throw-out bearing.

in gear whine could be tranny related but it may just be normal

Who can complain...Ford Mustangs are the working man's sport car. As working men...no PC here, we must fix them.....

By the way, I have no steering pump noise yet...guess its something to look forward to.

You guys are to much.
