Info on Shift Kits

ok a lot of people have been asking about these lately so here is all the generic info and recommended parts with links. This is for shifting manually and still keeping the Auto feature in an automatic mustang.

Info on shift kit
a shift kit will help a lot you will get faster shifts no lag. You will also gain control over all the gears if you get a shifter not just 1 and 2. For a shift kit you will need a B&M shift improvement kit, 2100-2400 stall torque converter, and a shifter. You will be able to rev up to about 2200 rpm before you launch and shift more efficiently than a manual.

Info on torque converter
it is like the clutch of the automatic. Allows the engine to turn while the wheels and gears come to a stop so your car doesn't stall. A higher rpm stall torque converter allows you to let the engine have more rpms from a stall so you can have higher rpms for a launch like when the manual guys push in the clutch and rev the engine to get there rpms up for a better launch.

For items
go to B&M.com and find what you like.

for v6 I reccomend
there is the shift improvement kit (stage 2)

a tork shot 2000 torque converter

and a shifter you like console hammer being what I could pick

you’ll the stuff for the AODE or AOD transmission depending on year of your car.

Links to stuff
http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...ubcat=6&pid=51
thats the torque converter

http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...t=12&subcat=21
shift improvement kit

http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...bcat=1&pid=356
shifter will work up to 04 stangs

umm I'm not completely sure on the distribution I know 99-04 has the AODE but I'm not sure what year they got rid of the AOD for the AODE. If you go to order the stuff off summitracing.com or from autozone (best places to get the items) then they can give you the right tranny.

Edit: i kept one of my detonated pistons as a memento, i have it hanging from the rear view in the car lol
