Depends on if your swapping the valve springs out at the same time. This isn't something that I have done, but it is easier to do this if your not swapping the valve springs out at the same time.

yeah but to my understanding it will help with a mild cam...so I know it gets more complicated....I saw a thread where i guy does a V6 cam with the engine still in the car....just took a lot of shit off it....just wanted to know how long it took and the gain they got from it

well he also replaced the valve springs to heavier ones, and that took him 15+ hours aside from where he lost one of the parts and had to wait a day to get a replacement for it.

You don't have to break the block down that much. You can put cylinder one to TDC, remove the timing chain, slide the cam out, and put the new one in. It's a little more indepth than that, but you can do it that way.
