trany oil in 5 speed 99 v6??
hi everyone im planing on changing the 5 speed trany oil in my 99 v6 tomorrow, i talk to somebody and they told me it takes atf, but my trany is not auto so it doesn't make sense to me but i search and read you can't put gear oil in it nether so i'm confuse, help please, thanks.

I'm almost sure it uses ATF. A lot of newer manuals are like that.

your tranny uses ATF. gear oil goes in the differential. change both.

Changed T-5 ATF Fluid Today
So, the interwebz haz lotz of informationz about fluid in the T-5.
According to a Tremec tech on another board, the tremec T5 has only been tested with Dexron-III ATF and Mobil 1 synthetic. Other synthetic oils have been found to damage the paper/fiber blocker ring on 1st gear. Armed with that information, I changed my fluid today with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. A couple of tips. The drain plugs take 3/8" wrench. I pulled the lower drainplug first, and all the "glugging" made a mess. Next time I'll pull the fill plug before I pull the drain plug. The trans took almost 3qts of fluid before it was running down the side. I did not get in the car and "run it through the gears" before topping off. Shifting great!
