a jerk when you take your foot off of the gas? Does it do like 3 or 4 jerks and than stop? do you have a manual?

basic test to see if it is the clutch:
Park the car on FLAT ground. Put the car in first gear and hold the clutch in. Put your other foot on the brake (push it to the floor) Slowly (very slowly) release the clutch WITH your other foot still on the brake. Keep pulling the clutch out until it stalls out. If you can release the clutch between 1/2 and 3/4 of the way out, you need a new clutch. If it stalls before half way out, I would say your rear is busted and that jerk you feel is just really bad slap from the rear. |

yah i know, but with the gas on it would be slipping, but when he lef off the gas the wheels would be moving at relitively the same speed and the engine would be dropping in rpm's until the fly wheel and the clutch were moving at the same speed and would regain traction and jolt the engine becuase of the two momentums acting against each other in an inelastic colision, the bump would be because the engine would have to keep trying to maintain its deceleration while at the same time the transmition would be trying to maintain the same speed, this would cause the engine to stop decelerating and keep speed with the clutch, causing the jerk. it would be less noticable at higher speeds cause of the different gear ratio

It wouldnt cause a jerk though. there would be no power going to the transmission except at 800rpm. Thats the only time it would jerk. |
