Trust me its just not worth it in the end for a lot of reasons unless you are serious about it and are willing to go through a lot of headaches.
I have to ask how you know how hard it is?

It is actually very very simple. BOOST. the worst thing about history is no one learns. the grand national, Supra, skyline, etc. all labled great cars to own because upgrade the internals and some work done can take loads of boost. On the flip side if you forged a v6 mustang, It can also handle loads of boost and make way more power for how much boost it is running compared to a GN or supra or skyline. But it is not worth modding or wasting the time to make power.

J over on v6power used to own a 96-98 cobra and had twin turbo's on it making i think over 600rwhp. J now owns a 2000 v6 mustang and makes I estimate near 700rwhp, or he will be soon enough. He had a post awhile back saying it wasn't any harder to mod the v6 to get there than it was the cobra. You run into the exact same problems and replace the same things. The v6 motor is a simpler motor and with cheaper parts than the cobra, so it might have even been easier.

my 2 cents. and a been there, done that.

I always wonder what I'd do in this situation...I usually end up saying for about 8k I would get a turbo with forged internals, a cam, and some suspension work. Then it'd be as fast as anything else you'd buy. But its all what you want. Doesn't matter what other people say. Though I'm not gonna lie, a 2011 would be really nice.

they do it to fool the average consumer. more HP but more rotating mass makes a car not alot fast. It is the illusion.

my moms 2000 vette auto, DEAD stock dynoed 299rwhp/317rwtq. I ran my friends 2006 vette auto DEAD stock. The 2000 had 1 car lead until 95mph where the bigger motor finally pulled it's weight.

the 2000 vette had magnesium wheels and 3.15 gears. the later vetter had chrome rims that were 1in bigger on fronts and back. The quickest way to slow a car down is to put heavier and wide rims on it.
