Datalogging

Ok so I have been doing thinking on datalogging versus dyno tuning. Ok so here is what I kind of think correct me if I am wrong. Is it true that you can get as accurate of results with datalogging if you do it with an wideband a/f while you datalog as when compared to dyno tuned. It seems like datalogging would be more accurate, because you are driving so you will get the airflow like you would when your actually getting your power, so your readings will be more accurate. Is that correct? I mean if you properly datalog. Cuz think of it if you are strapped to a dyno you don't have the same airflow as you would if you were accelerating down the road so that won't be as accurate of a reading.

a data log will give you safer numbers because you are in fact on the road.

a dyno tune will give you larger numbers though.

ok, well how does that work? I mean i know dyno tuning you will get to see what power you are making. Is the dyno tune larger number, because they have the dyno sheet to adjust for the curve? And as far as say I do not have access to a dyno would datalogging work well for just h/c/i? As long as I have a wideband a/f in my datalogging.

On a na setup a decent tuner can usualy get by without a wideband hooked up and make the proper adjustments off of the 02's.

in real life the best tune is a done in a car on a laptop with an accurate a/f gauge and other gauge or acc.
Your cars load is different from the track to the dyno

that is kind of what I thought cuz it is real then.
Ok so I could tune using datalogging for h/c/i.

I have not & would not. Always use a wideband.

Yea that's what I'm going to do when i get my cam done. It'll actually be close to the cost of a dyno tune, though, unless I find a good deal or used wideband.

Joe@tricktuners can write you a tune for a cam....

He wrote one for my stupid, didn't want to drive around town, cam.... And well the car ran good besides the fact that the cam shouldn't have been in my car.

Anything past that and you really need wideband data period, even when people go and do datalogging the cars usually have wide band's hooked up.
