I know that you can use the stock pushrods if you get a billet camshaft, and not a re-grind. The reason you need them for a re-grind is the reduced base circle diameter.

When I do mine though, I'm just going to put in new everything...roller rockers, lifters or roller lifters, pushrods, valvesprings...the only problem I'm having right now is really determining what I want to do with the car to get the cam spec'd how I'd need it. I'm going with a billet cam, I just need to figure out if I really want put in a turbo cam to wait to go turbo a little in the future, or I could go with an N/A cam that could be good with a S/C. The only reason I'm leaning toward a turbo is because it seems easier on the engine and would be cheaper for me to piece together and make. The only thing keeping me from a cam...haha

the 1.73 rocker rollers would be a better on a motor your planning to modify farther...

you will gain nothing on a non-cam'd motor by going with 1.73 rockers. not a drop of hp. just extra strength for no purpose
1.8s will get you a little more lift which gets you a little more power. go adjustable if you have a cam or plan on it. its much easier

so you do not really even gain any performance with 1.73s then? dang. I do plan on putting a cam in hopefully in the next yr. Most likely in the summer.
Harland Sharp S4103 - Harland Sharp Roller Rockers - Overview - SummitRacing.com would these ones be good ones to get for a car that is planning on going with a cam and some head work and either nitrous or sc in the future? or should i go 1.75s? they did not have 1.73s under small block ford. Will they work

if you get a cam go 1.73s
the point in getting them is for being able to spin higher RPMS and even if your staying under 6000rpms i'd stay with stock rockers I pushed 497rwhp on stock rockers....I'll probably spin 600+whp with stock rockers at 6000rpms

and to be even more honest i wouldnt even touch hardland sharp rockers that are 1.7s...1.8s are a GREAT bolt on. I'd go with those over UD pulleys. on a bolt on n/a no cam setup

ok. Thanks you just saved me some money. I just have seen people saying that they free up power and are a pretty good bolt on so i was jc. oh sorry i did not see ur last post on the 1.8s. but i prolly should just wait until i get a cam then, cuz i wont be able to use the 1.8s with a cam would i?

they dont free up power really. it allows more of a lift...its kinda like getting a stock camshaft with a tad more lift. so now your valve opens more allowing more air in and out.
the 1.8s are good. but 1.7s I'd only trust to 6300rpms and even then I'd rely on stockers still at that rpm rather spend the money on the comp rockers SSMS sells...expensive but if you want 6500-7000rpms thats the way to go

ok thanks. maybe i will wait on the rockers, i am going to school for engine rebuilding and hopefully will learn some more tips. And then i will be able to plan my whole car out and set goals so i do not waste money on things that wont work with other things.
