im rocking 3.73's in V6 manual V6 right now, im in an 8.8 but its similar. if you want to do it the affordable way, get the differential out of a ranger with a 7.5 and 3.73's already on it. get an install kit and pop it in there. pretty sure its offered on the 4wd models. thats what i did and with a good install, it lasted for years, until i started using nitrous. if you plan on going F/I, go ahead and look for a used 8.8. they can be had pretty cheap if you search.

3/4 a tank per week with the 373's. look to burn an additional 1/8th with the 4.10's.

well it is only two more years that I will have to drive that much highway until im out of college. And by then I will want to put a detroit trutrac in and 4.10s. I mean I got these babies cheap and they will work for what I want now, I know I am spending extra on buying them later, but it is just easier.

Do it at the same time.
Unless you want to pay $300 twice for the installation.

As a few of the more informed members have said, the mpg downgrade isn't as drastic as some lead to believe. With a proper install and everything else in working order, you shouldn't lose THAT much gas efficiency. In an auto go with 4.10's.

^ah crap, oh well if i blow mine out, stuff breaks. It is too late i already bought it and didnt have enough money to buy the tru trac. and one more question. Am i supposed to use the friction modifier with the new t lok? and how do i break in the gears? because i was looking at mine last night and they said to make sure to break in but did not tell how.

is it possable to do a 4.30 or do you need to go 8.8 for that. and from what i have read it's pretty much mandantory you use a sct so tranny shifts properly with gear set.does anyone have input on that.

Unfortunatlley so. Thats one of the downsides to staying with the 7.5. 4.30 would be nice if offered in 7.5

I have been running 3.73 for a couple of years now. I have the manual trans. I would like to try 4.10 but wonder about the low first gearing in tranny, would have to shift from 1st pretty quick.. I am guessing on this though.

To break the gears in I just took it easy on them for the first 400 miles. And everything's fine. And the guy that installed mine said to do a bunch of tight figure 8s in a parking lot as soon as you get everything installed to get oil on all of the friction plates. Because if you read the paper with the t-lock it ays to take it apart and soak all of the friction plates in oil before installing. But my a guy that works on GM cars said their differentials are the same and all they do are the figure 8s.
