Best way to check is have a shop "smoke it". They will put smoke in the exhaust under pressure and any holes will be seen real easy. Their can be small cracks in the exhaust you cannot see with your eyes.

If its a sticky lifter, I woldnt worry too much. Just about every car Ive ever owned had a tick for a period of time. Unless its really loud with other simptoms I wouldnt worry.

Get a "stethascope" and listen to different parts of the motor. Isolate where the sound is comming from. I had a tick real bad once and thought it was a lifter. I isolated the sound to a fuel rail and then back into the injector. I ran a couple bottles of injecotr cleaner through and it fixed it.

well its not really loud but just annoying, been trying to fix this problem for a while now. i am going to have to try the stethascope again, also would running c foam through the car show leaks also?

If it happens when giving it gas, it could be an exhaust leak still. One place to check is the joint at the bottom of the manifold where the converter assembly attaches.

Are you sure your not hearing preignition ( pinging) ? That can be caused by
build up of carbon.

ya im going to give that a try see if i can see anything, and no its not a pinging sounds because at an idle you can barely hear it, its when you give it gas you hear it, it almost sounds like ticking springler noise when giving it gas.

check to make sure all the bolts are really tight at all of the connections in the exhaust because this same think happened to me and it was just a bolt that needed to be tightened a half a turn from the headers to the pipe. Most of the time its something small and stupid like that, and thats an easy problem to check and fix, so start there.

+1 on the exhaust leak at the manifold to pipe flange. It seems to be the most common.

Two years ago I had to replace exhaust manifolds and bolts. It stopped the ticking. Good luck.

thanks a couple weeks ago i just replaced the right side exhaust manifold, cause it was cracked, and i have looked at the other manifold, and it seems fine, when im driving the tick you can feel it like its underneath the car, im wondering if if the catalac convertors have a leak or somewhere around there. if not then my last resort is the lifters, very frustrating lol

if you have a jack and a couple jack stands, just go under the car and tighten the bolts at the flange where the pipe meets the manifold. All it takes is a slightly loose bolt for the ticking noise to happen. Its really easy to do just put the wrench on there and tighten them up as tight as you can before you go looking at the cats... This problem happens a lot and it happened to me and all it was were a couple bolts that werent tightened up all the way...

This may not have anything to do with your sound but I had a sound to and it was the windshield washer fluid container shaking back and forth. (rusted out fender where its attached

You really should take the manifolds off and look for leaks. I ran some seafoam through my car before taking my manifolds off, and it really showed the leaks.

I had the same thing in my 03! I took it to the dealer and they took the manifold apart and said it was something to do with that. I always ticked when it was just starting up, or accelerating rapidly.
