Where to find a 4.2

Alright, where can i find a 4.2liter v6 or a stroker kit for my 3.8. How much more power does a stock 4.2 have vs a stock 3.8? I have a budget of about 2500 not including the install, so can anyone help my find an engine?

Are those horsepower ratings accurate? and do you have any idea how much shipping would be to wisconsin??? I cant find anything about shipping on the website. Also how hard/expensive would it be to install that engine in my car?

well that would be a direct replacement engine for your not hard. for shipping your probably gonna want to talk to the shop that is doing the work and have them get it delivered there moving an engine is hard not just something you can throw in the trunk. Shipping depends on if you send them your old core and such.

well you send them a core charge of what they are out for the core they sent you. Then you send them yours and you get your money back. They want your old engine so they can rebuild it and sell it. it is a normal practice for engine rebuild companies. Oh and the numbers are from a engine dyno

putting in a direct replacement engine is pretty easy.. me and two friends have done it before.. it took a couple of days (we didnt work on it too much during the days) but everything worked fine and the job wasnt too hard... bolting it to the tranny was the hardest part (we didnt have a lift)

that is at the crank... and engine dyno only does the crack.. so you would be looking at prolly like 200 - 220 rwhp

well it would be crank since it was just an engine dyno and not actually in a car.

stock 3.8 is 190 hp. And your dads friend could do a direct replacement real easy.

the 190hp is base hp.. its a lot less to the wheels... maybe like 150 or so... my 3.8 only has 150 bhp so the new engine would be a 100hp boost for me

the 190 hp is at the crank right, so itd be about a 60 hp increase? maybe even a little more since my engine has high miles. Would this be the best method for getting more hp for as cheap as possible without nitrous or a turbo, also taking into consideration that my engine would probally need to be rebuilt within a year or so anyways

i would get the new engine... having your engine rebuilt would prolly cost about half that and youd get the same hp as stock.. the 4.2 comes forged and with more hp so it would be a better engine to start out with. if you bought the forged internals and powerpaks from supersix then you would have a more hp engine but it would cost a lot more as well... the 2000 is a hell of a deal to me
