idle wont drop..Any Ideas

My idle is taking way to long to drop back down. I was told it was an EGR valve. Does that sound right? Its a 02 V6 5speed. Any suggestions?

I got the same type of symptom - Say any given drive I take off from a red light and run it to 3000 then push the clutch, put it in second, RPM's are still at like 2800 and dropping about 800 RPM / sec. They really drop when I start to re-engage the clutch but on their own it takes about 3 - 3.5 seconds to whine down...

I figured my beast just wanted to keep going fast

well, if i run the rpms up to about 3000, it will stick there for several seconds after engaging the clutc. I was told the MAF sensor and idle control valve. I can check both but im told that you have to use a special electical spray for the sensor. Sound right? If the idle control valve is just gummed, can i just use some gum out on it? Should i just consider replacing these parts? If so, what am i looking at. Any help is appreciated. Thanks fellas for gettin back with me.
